The Superbowl Snowstorm has wound down and left a ton of snow and ice in its wake. We are sitting here enjoying a very nice and very warm fire in our living room. No snow and no ice here, just rain and cold temps. Hope all of our friends in the DC and Maryland area are doing well. Keep your powder (and wood) dry.

Armywife created this pile-o-stuff that just so happens to include salsa. Topped with sour cream, salsa, tomatoes, chopped lettuce, ground beef with black beans and a touch of shredded cheese. Use some of your favorite chips (Scoops) and watch it magically disappear. Warning don’t click here unless your are already full or have your own supply of food and drink nearby.

Sunday Stills Texture

The challenge this week was texture. Armywife and I went to Florida this week. We spent two days at Disney – Magic Kingdom and Epcot. I captured a few pics while at both places. We had to cut our trip short because of the ice storm we were hit with at home. Good thing we did, traveling would not have been fun yesterday or this morning.

This is a tree at Epcot near the entrance to Soarin. If you get the chance to go to Epcot, take a ride on Soarin. It stimulates your senses to include smell as you take a journey across America as if you are hang gliding. Mission Space was pretty good too, you feel the G forces in that one.

Fun In the Sun to Ice and Snow

We made it back from Florida a day early. Missed out on a swamp boat ride that was pretty awesome. Cauzie and The Mailman took the ride while we were driving back to NC. They saw lots of gators and got a 2 hour ride out of it. We stopped off in Florence South Carolina to pick up some grub, just in case we were stuck at home for a day or two. Good move, I might add. No crowds in South Carolina stocking up on bread and toilet paper.

We came back early to avoid the bad weather. We went from the 70’s yesterday to 26 right now, quite a change for the body. It is supposed to get down into the teens tonight. We have a bit of snow but mostly ice on the ground. It was raining or sleeting a while ago. Now there is a fire in the fireplace and we are settled in for the evening. Dad got to go home and make sure mom and the kitties had power without having to take care of the granddogs and grandcat. The dogs got to play outside while I cleared the walkway and the back steps. Even got in some Ice Frisbee for Bailey.

We had a great time in Florida, now we have to go back and do the boat ride.

Epcot

Well today we visited Epcot, very nice day with temps in the low 70’s and clear blue skies and a occassional wisp of cloud floating through the sky.

We are feeling guilty for the nice weather we’re having and the ice storm that is about to hit Fayetteville. We’ll be traveling home in some of that. My dad is babysitting the granddogs and grandcat. I think they are calling for some cold temps and snow near Cauzie’s house in Maryland.

Here are a couple of shots to make you all feel warmer. Tomorrow is the Air Boat ride on “Spirit of the Swamp” dinner with family and packing for home. A quick trip to Daytona to see The Marine and north on 95 for the remainder of Saturday – stopping before we hit the ice zone.

Disney World

We went to Disney World’s Magic Kingdom yesterday. Here are some shots from that adventure. I downloaded an app for my iPhone that tracks the wait times for all of the rides at the Walt Disney Resort here in Orlando. See if it is accurate tomorrow when we hit Epcot. The weather was great, stayed in the 60’s all day. By night, it was around 55. We highly recommend watching the fireworks, I do believe they were about the best fireworks we’ve ever seen. We also were standing where Tinkerbell flies over your head. Space Mountain was awesome, I sat in the front seat the first go round.

This was harder than I thought. I did limit myself to only those photos I used on Sunday Stills. The first is my Bloodhound, Chester. This was for Sunday Stills Sound. He really looks like he is letting loose with a howl. I like how his coat and colors came out in contrast to the green background, not to mention the focus on him.

The second one was a couple of cows showing some Spring Love, at least it appears that way, behind my Son’s house. This was for Sunday Stills Animals of Husbandry. I think again, it is the contrast in the shot between the background, head and body of the cows along with what a appears to be a gesture of affection. In reality I’m sure it is not.

Frigid – for Fayetteville NC

Last night Armywife and I ventured to downtown Fayetteville. We found this fountain on Hay Street. As we pulled up a news crew was taking down their cameras from filming the same “landmark.” When we got home, I came into the living room just in time to see the same fountain on Fox News when they were reporting on how cold it would be across the country. Rewind the DVR and there it was earlier in the day. The picture on TV was a day shot of the fountain.  Some of you will laugh, but the temps in the 20’s are a big thing here, especially when it goes on for more than a couple of days. We may even get a dusting of snow later this week.
